Kalam ("we", "us") is an AI-powered preparation tool for competitive exam aspirants in India, starting with UPSC Civil Services. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and the choices you have. It is written in line with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

Kalam is intended for adults aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

5. AI processing

Kalam uses Claude, an AI model provided by Anthropic, to read and evaluate answers and to generate explanations. The content you submit is sent to Anthropic's API so it can produce a response. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, API data is not used to train their models by default. We share only what is needed to provide the feature you are using.

6. Security and retention

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We keep your data only while your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You can delete individual answers or your whole account at any time, and deleting your account removes your personal data, except where the law requires us to keep it.

You can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, withdraw consent, or raise a grievance by writing to [email protected]. We aim to respond within 30 days.
